Current Events: Energy Drink Reflection Homework

Final Reflection:
Write a reflection about your what you learned.
1. What is your opinion about energy drinks?
I don't like them. For me they are too sweet. For years I couldn't drink it because my Mom didn't let me and when I could taste it, after that I decided by my own that I'm not going to drink these kind of things. If I want to add coffeine to my body system, then I just drink coffee. At least that is not so sweet as an energy drink, because I don't use sugar in it.
2. What is an opposing argument than the one that you have been presented with? What would the drink makers say about this?
Some people would say that Monster Energy Drinks actually don't have that much of a coffeine, which could be true as we saw in class that a Starbuck Espresso has much more. But the drink makers want to sell a drink with the most coffeine, so they would cheate on the charts just to fool their costumers.
3. Will you drink them? Why or why not?
I will not drink them. I never did and I never will. I find them useless and tastless. I'd rather drink coffee or tea than energy drinks.

Essential Question:

The natural characteristics of a country can be determined by many different things. Some countries are located closer to the ocean, which gives a totally different type of weather to them. Mostly it depends which ocean is close to the country, because each has different currents that can determine the weather. Some places have huge elevations and lots of rivers, while others only have plains, deserts where there is very low rate of rain. Characteristics also can be the minerals, natural resources they have.
Our countries define us the way we are because each country has its own culture, language, and typical life style. Even inside a small country can be differences between two people, it just depends on that one person comes from the East part of the country, the other person comes from the West part. For example Hungary's west part (where I am from) is closer to Austria and those west European countries who mostly do factorial things and more modern life. In the east part of Hungary most people still working with agriculture and they are more close to Ukraine, Russia, which makes a big influence. But not only for working style, but for living style. On the west, people travel more out of the country and they have a slightly different thinking. Most of the western people are carrier orientated, while people who are from the big plains of Hungary are more friendly and family orientated. I know this because as I visited some friends on the East, they were very different from the people who live with on the west, not just that family, but the whole neighborhood. Interesting thing that the most Hungarian people I know in New York came from the East part of the country because there the economics and to live day by day is even harder then on the west. Western Hungarians have more chance to live normally with the jobs they have, because there are more chances to find a normal job. I only met two families out of twenty who came from the West just like us.
Looking away from the different parts of Hungary and separating people from each other, now it's time to look at Hungarians as a nation. And not just Hungarians, but the whole world. To answer directly to the question, each countries have different things to believe, different holidays to celebrate, etc, and these define each person differently from each other. Even though people in one country can be really different, and it depends on how each people were raised by their parents or other family members, it still does matter where you came from. A Hungarian person will not really celebrate the same things as an American does. The way how people think can be different from each other. Hungarians won't think like Russian people, and even though the history and other nations connects us with Russians, we are very-very different. - Just to give you an example. The geography part of a country may not defines us, but the culture, which belongs to each country, will define our personalities and how we are as a person. It's hard to answer to this, because it's a big questions and we can have a lot of arguments about it.

Reflection:

- What did you enjoy most about this project and why?
I enjoyed to put together a video about my country. The information I had to include, I learned all of these in 8th grade, in Geography class. Also I included a lot of personal pictures and it was great to look back at them because they brought up nice memories.
- What was most challeging for you during this project and why?
I needed to make a short video which was hard because I could even make like a fifteen minutes video.
- What new skills did you learn from doing this project?
I learned how to arrange nicely the information I wrote about each and also the pictures.
- Is there anything that you could have done to imporve any of your work? Explain
I think at some points I didn't really explain things well and sometimes it felt like I left out a lot of information for those who haven't been in Hungary before. It was just a little bit difficult to look at my country as a stranger and try to explain things that I know well and I didn't find them so important. Next time I would defenitely change that.
- What would you change about this project?
I wouldn't change anything. I think it was great the way it was.
